Hygiene Keeps Us Clean!

My Students

In order for learning to take place, students must first feel like their needs are secured. More than 70% of my students come from low socio-economic incomes. This means that teachers must do everything they can to make sure students have what they need while they are at school.

Our school is located on the west side of Jacksonville, and our students come from a variety of backgrounds.

Most of the student body belongs to at least one minoritized group. Students take traditional courses and rarely have a say in their course scheduled electives. I'm excited to provide projects which give students the opportunity to make their own decisions in the learning and creative process.

My students love to have fun when they learn. Many of my project ideas on DonorsChoose are all created by recommendations from the students I have or their parents. With your help, my students can feel excited and empowered in the classroom.

My Project

For students between the ages of 12 to 14, there are many changes going on, from friend cliques to puberty. Middle school is already a confusing and stressful time for many students. Add the lack of proper hygiene supplies to the mix, and fitting in seems impossible. This project aims to help students feel more comfortable and prepared both at school and at home, with the proper hygiene supplies to keep them focused on school work. After all, how can our students pay attention if they are worried they'll use their last pad or if they feel the sweat drenching through their school uniforms?

Over 70% of the students here at our school receive free or reduced-price lunch, which means some families may struggle to afford basics like shampoo, conditioner, deodorant, and menstruation products the moment they are needed.

Help provide emergency hygiene kits for my students so that no student feels embarrassed in the classroom. With your help, all my students can have the equipment they need to be clean and comfortable. When students feel confident in themselves, they struggle less to make friends and learn more effectively with their peers. It is my hope that every student feels supported, whether they are at home or at school.
