Help me give my students a refrigerator, water, and Gatorade to stay hydrated in the classroom.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My students come from a variety of different economic and cultural backgrounds. As a teacher in an inner-city area, many of my students are faced with different challenges both in and out of the classroom. Many of them live in single parent households, with guardians other than their birth parents or with other family members and friends. Despite the challenges they may face outside of school, they still come to school every day with open minds ready and the will to learn new things. They are thinkers, dreamers, talkers, and questioners.
My students are full of personality and are very clever and creative.
They are passionate about the world of technology as it relates to different careers. They take pride in everything that they do and are willing to challenge their minds on a daily basis. Despite the many issues and challenges they may face, I continue to look for ways to provide my students with creative and meaningful learning experiences. I try keep things fun, simple, but yet challenging.
My students are in a warehouse simulated and technology based class. When we engage in hands-on warehouse skills and activities, students often ask to go outside to get water or go to the vending machine to buy something to drink. Water and Gatorade along with a refrigerator to keep drinks cold inside of the classroom would allow my students to stay hydrated and work efficiently without having to leave the warehouse.
It is essential for students to stay hydrated, especially while working in various temperatures.
Our classroom/warehouse often varies in temperature. Keeping students hydrated will help to prevent a lack of energy, confusion, and/or irritability. The added hydration resources will not directly teach my students new skills, but they will help in providing the necessary resources to help them to stay focused and work more efficiently. We do not have much of a budget within our school, and most of my students do not have the necessary resources at home. Without the help of generous donors, we are not able to provide indispensable supplies. My students and I would love any assistance in getting the resources we need for a successful Trade & Logistics Technology program.
