This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
We are an urban school and we have a diverse population. Many of my students receive blessings in a backpack on the weekend, and our school also runs a food pantry for our families. Despite so many hardships, my students are eager to learn and do their best. They want to be in school because they want to learn all they can so they can be successful one day.
We are in a very large school district, where resources are stretched very thin.
The teachers work together and do the best they can for their students. They are so excited about school and learning. And I want to kept that excitement and engagement alive in my classroom. I want them to have access to books and other academic materials.
My Project
Thanks so much for reviewing my project. I have 4 sets of students (60) that I work with. I work in an urban district and we have limited funding. I have to pay out of pocket for things and/or make things at home in order for my students to have a quality education. Due to the pandemic, my students have suffered learning loss due to lack of technology and or lack of family support. The students are using broken headphones are in need for new ones.
My students will benefit from the resources by giving them classroom furniture they can use during our small groups.
They can use the privacy screens to help focus during independent assignments. I could print color graphic for posters and assignments. I would also have the necessary PPE supplies to keep our students safe. With wearing masks, it's difficult for students to hear and the voice amplifier would help tremendously.
As an educator, I'm having to wear so many hats and my resources have stretched to nothing. I want to be able to have access to a computer that runs fast and can support both virtual and in person instruction. We have virtual field trips coming up, and it would be great to have outstanding graphics and download/upload speeds.
In 2 of my classes, we have been learning about government and how it works. It would beneficial to have a laptop that we could use for our classroom to use for our virtual fieldtrips. Our current computers are slow and the graphics are not very clear. My other 2 classes, need more reading resources, classroom supplies. The erasable pocket protectors would work great for our phonics lessons. I travel from class to class and have to carry numerous materials so a travel cart is necessary.
