Our community was affected by the flood waters created by Hurricane Harvey. We are having to endure the rebuilding process of our town, our homes and our school facilities at Little Cypress Elementary. By donating to our project, you will not only help to improve the functionality and organization of our classroom, you will ultimately help create an inviting space for learning! I want my classroom environment to be a place where students feel safe, comfortable and at home! As a teacher in a low-income and an increase in poverty stricken families in our school district, my students are faced with several challenges both in and out of the classroom. An area rug is used in our daily routine as a gathering place during carpet time and creates a home-like feel in our classroom. The flexible seating options will provide comfort and reduce the duration of sedentary periods of time. Shelving units and backpack racks will provide organization and a place for each student to house their materials. My students and I would greatly appreciate your love and support!
My Project
The flood waters from Hurricane Harvey destroyed our shelving units, rugs, flexible seating and much, much more.
My students need storage shelves to help keep them organized and to give their supplies a home.
Being organized helps make our day more functional and saves time when we can locate things more easily on a shelf rather than rummaging through boxes and totes.
My students will also benefit from a comfy rug for center time and whole group discussions. Wobble stools and rockers will increase the students' motivation and engagement. Students learn best when they have some control over their learning environment.
