Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Every teacher tries their best to create the most enriching learning environment possible for their students. But sometimes, we reach the limit of what we can make with the resources available to us and our other needs can only be fulfilled by the purchase of much needed supplies!
My students come from a high poverty area where they have been able to maintain a positive attitude and motivation to better themselves, their school and their community.
Although faced with challenges that many of us, as adults, never have to face, they understand the importance of their own education and their growing need to become members of an international community. Being fluent in multiple languages is a goal that they each understand the importance of and share in the desire to achieve.
My Project
Although I try everyday to create authentic learning resources for my students, there are always instances where I need the help of supplies that can provide what I cannot to my students. Audio resources with authentic accents and dialects from various French speaking regions will enhance listening comprehension and flashcards with realistic and thorough images of verbs and nouns will provide a visual learning cue. With the purchase of thorough and well made language learning supplies, I can also ensure that these resources will last me for years to come. It is not just my current students that will benefit, but all of my future students as well!
It is well known to parents and teachers alike, that our children will need to become members of an international community in order to reach their full potential in the future.
We are the adults charged with the task to give our students every possible resource in order to achieve this goal. Without their teachers who care and donors like you this can seem like an insurmountable obstacle. But it is within our power to make it possible!!
