The 300 student-athletes of our school are very hardworking individuals who are very competitive both on the field and track and in the classroom. These students are very committed and determined. I teach in a low-income area. After being hit hard by Hurricane Irma, many families were at a loss. This help with new equipment for our school will bring the light back in these young children's eyes, and things will get back to normal sooner than later.
Participating in sports relieves the students' stress level and keeps them more focused!
My Project
I am writing this project for Running watches to help let the kids know what their pace and distances is on different runs that we do, and also asking for water bottles to keep them hydrated at all times before, during, and after all running events, and also towels to cool them off and to keep them motivated for the activity. This would be a huge help to our program and our team after such a tough time from Hurricane Irma.
Many families are at both a emotional and financial lost right now from the hurricane and the stress is very high for these kids.
Our school was hit very hard by the hurricane. The track and field were damaged from the high winds and debris that was flying around and so were some of the gates and storage sheds from the extreme flooding that the storm caused. The school has been working very hard to get everything back to normal but things like this take time and money. I am hopeful that with your help and the help of DICK'S Sporting Goods that our project will be fully funded and we will receive the supplies and items that we could really use. Please help these kids it would truly mean a lot to see some things getting back to normal and with sports and running it puts their minds off the stress of everything else going on.
