My students need a large TV where they can watch instructional videos and lessons. Hurricane Harvey washed away the audio video cart that was used for these lessons.
This project expired on July 21, 2018.
Hooray! This project is fully funded
Hurricane Harvey came and left our community and our school flooded. Our school is the heart of a small rural community located along the Texas coast. My counseling room was a favorite spot for students to come to calm down, discuss social, emotional, and/or educational problems, and work on study skills. I serve 750 students ages 3-11 years or 4th grade. Many of our students are now homeless or living in substandard housing as we all try to rebuild after the storm.
Hurricane Harvey came and washed away our video devices that were used to teach guidance lessons along with health and fitness lessons to our elementary students. The 60" LG TV and Sony DVD player will take the place of what was lost.
Our library of videos survived the flood, but not the projector or player.
OES students are currently without any type of device to watch the videos. Research has shown that using instructional videos when teaching will help students to retain more information and understand concepts more rapidly. It is an added bonus that students just seem to enjoy seeing and hearing the lesson.
