Our students come from a very small school with rural roots and a close-knit community. We, as educators, have been so proud to see them pull together after Hurricane Harvey to support their friends, family, and town; now, we ask for the chance to give back to them in order to make this the best year ever. They have good hearts and the capability of being even more engaged this year. Please help me create this learning environment for my classroom!
My Project
Our school was completely totaled in the late summer when Hurricane Harvey struck our state. We were out of school for nearly a month, and are only on a half day schedule right now so that we can share rooms at the high school. As of right now, we have the absolute bare necessities for our students, namely a room to teach in and desks for the students to use while they are learning.
When we return to our campus in portable buildings, they will lose these very basic resources.
Thankfully, DonorsChoose.org has been kind enough to sponsor another project for my students to receive tables to work in collaborative groups in my classroom.
However, they still need chairs in order to be able to sit down and learn comfortably in the classroom. I ask that you please consider taking the time to support this project, so that our students can have some semblance of a normal learning environment. It may take a village to raise one child, but it takes a much wider community to support the larger number of students in our schools. Thank you in advance for your time and efforts.
