Hurricane Harvey Damaged Library Needs Laptops for Group Projects
My students need laptops in the library to work on group projects, take AR tests, and use our online library card catalog to find books. We also need cables to secure them.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
There are around 660 students at our elementary, a Title 1 school in Houston, Texas. Our students consist of both zoned and magnet students that enter into our program through a district lottery system.
We have a large ESL population and many of our early grades are taught in Spanish.
We also have four different Special Ed classes on campus.
Some of our students were also misplaced during Hurricane Harvey and have lived in homeless shelters set up by the city and bussed to our campus.
Despite all of this, our students are eager to learn and come to school with smiles on their faces.
My Project
During hurricane Harvey our school library was damaged, resulting in us losing 50 ft of shelving. In order to replace our shelving, this means moving our computer area away from our only available wall that is safe from flooding and installing new shelving there.
As a STEM based magnet school, we wish to be rid of our three extremely old and very large computers that were up against this wall, and replace them with small, portable laptops that students can work on and create digital group projects.
These laptops will also be utilized for taking Accelerated Reader quizzes over books students have read, and to search for books on our online card catalog.
With your help, our STEM magnet school can finally live up to providing the necessary Technology needed to create 21st learners.
