Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are predominantly Spanish speaking first graders. They attend a Title I school which means we are in a high poverty area of the city. They are your typical 6 and 7 year olds who thrive when given opportunities to learn in different ways.
Unfortunately, the first week did not go as planned.
Hurricane Harvey came and didn't allow us to get through our first week of school. Flooding ruined all our learning spaces taking away what kids were just learning to love about our classroom.
My Project
My students need dry erase markers and new dry erase tables for our classroom. Having these available would open up a whole new style of learning.
With these tables, the way my students learn to write, read, and understand math skills would dramatically change!
They would be able to write right along with me and it would offer me (as a teacher) the ability to promptly correct and model the process for them.
These tables would also be wonderful for us to be able to work through math skills simultaneously. They I teach the math skill, they would be able to follow along using the strategies I am teaching them.
Not to mention that these tables would cut down the consumption of daily paper use dramatically.
