Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I teach at a Title I campus with 90% of our school's population being economically disadvantaged. My students face many barriers to their success, but they come to school eager to learn and with positive attitudes. They are resilient and hard-working children.
I am requesting snacks to help my students focus on their work, not their growling tummies.
This school year, my students have a large gap between breakfast and lunch, causing hunger by about 10:00 A.M. The majority of my students rely on the breakfast and lunch provided by the school. We eat breakfast in the classroom at about 7:30, and don't have lunch until about 12:10. That's close to 5 hours between meals. With your help, I am hoping to provide my students with snacks to hold them over until lunchtime.
My Project
Healthy snacks will increase focus on learning in the classroom throughout the day. The snacks can boost their energy level for learning. Healthy snacks enable the students to become more engaged in classroom activities. By providing my students with healthy snacks, you are investing in higher academic performance in the classroom.
No student should be sitting in a classroom distracted by hunger.
I aim to keep my students feeling comfortable and ready to learn by providing mid-morning snacks. The snacks I selected are ones that will be individually packaged for easy distribution and clean up. Please consider donating to help keep my students focused on their learning.
