Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students all come from the poorest neighborhoods in the city of Boston. My third graders are the sweetest and hardest working children! They love to learn, read, and write. They make me proud every day!
My classroom is an ESL classroom, where all my students speak Spanish at home.
They are all new immigrants to the United States and many of them have had limited or interrupted schooling in their home countries. They enjoy coming to school each day to learn English and make friends.
My Project
Our school has an extended day. Children are in school for over 9 hours a day. All students receive free breakfast and lunch, however, having tasty snacks available for them to eat when they are hungry will help my students to do their best during the long school day.
Pretzels, Goldfish, Cheez-its and a few other snacks are perfect for snacking on when you're hungry.
Having a closet full of delicious treats for my kiddos to nibble on while they work is the perfect answer to hungry tummies. Kids can't be successful when they're hungry and tired. Sometimes a quick snack is just the thing to get my students back on track.
