Every school day marks the start of a new journey to learn and grow. My students are all so unique and I strive to make each and every one of them feel special providing them with the individualized attention they need.
My students come from many different backgrounds, creating a wide range of cultures and traditions in the classroom.
I teach at a Title 1 school in Tempe, Arizona, where students receive free and reduced lunch as well as weekend food support. Many of the students participate in before and after school tutoring and day care programs that provide them with the extra academic support needed to succeed.
My Project
My students need snacks to help them focus on their learning! By 10 o'clock, the students are asking for snacks because they are so hungry and often do not eat breakfast at home. Lunch time for them is around 12 which makes those two hours feel like a century in their minds.
Having a hungry belly makes it very difficult for them to focus and stay on track when they are distracted by their growling stomachs.
The students receive free and reduced lunch and do not bring food from home, which leaves us as teachers to buy their snacks if we can afford it.
