Our middle school students are the best in Madison! We have close to 650 students and are growing! We educate sixth, seventh, and eighth grade diverse learners. 63% of our students receive free or discounted breakfast and lunch, 36% are English Language Learners, and 17% are students with disabilities.
As a school community, we care about each-other and inspire each-other to do better always.
Through teaching, modeling, and practicing different skills, we learn! Having so many diverse learners can be challenging, but having common hallway, classroom, special space, and other language/routines, we all achieve.
My Project
My students are growing middle schoolers! They are at school from 8:40 am until 3:52pm and some later for after school activities. Many of our students are coming to school hungry, which in turn affects their ability to learn. They need a better variety of snacks that can help them fill their bellies! Snacks such as bars and snack mixes are much better for them than the typical middle schoolers choice of Flamin' Hot Cheetos and candy.
They work hard, and at times need a 'pick me up" snack to keep their momentum going.
I'm requesting Capri Sun, Cheez-It crackers, Ritz-Bits, Pepperidge Farm Goldfish Crackers, and Rold Gold Pretzels. Having healthy fuel gives them the stamina to work though hard tests questions, challenging work, and continued literacy skills
