Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students are wonderful little people with a lot of personality. The students are eager to learn and very anxious to see what is being taught on a daily basis. A lot of my students lack the proper parental guidance, so it is paramount that I ensure that they not only feel love and security but also structure.
In spite of their socioeconomic backgrounds, determination finds a way to reach success.
My students are determined to learn, and they are already in deep thought about their futures. Because of the environment provided in the classroom, some have even stated that they want to be teachers. Living in a community known for their lack of financial security, my students have excelled beyond expectations and are driven by a thirst for knowledge and success.
My Project
In a school where the entire population receives free lunch, it is often hard to get parental support for class snack when the parents are barely managing at home. My students have an extremely early lunch time. Many of the students are unable to bring snack from home due to financial limitations.
With all the resources we have in this country, students should not go hungry.
When the belly is dissatisfied, so is the mind. I find that my students are more focused after they have lunch; however, because our lunch time is in the earlier part of the morning and the majority of our instruction happens after lunch, the students are burned out and hungry by noon with a few more hours of instruction left.
These snacks will help my students focus on academics instead of their rumbling stomachs.
