Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I work in a school where where 100% of our students get free and reduced-price lunch. Many come from low income households. We also have a high population of migrant and Native American students. Despite many of them working against the odds, they are resilient, hardworking, amazing kids!
My students have different personalities, goals, and needs.
They are bright, adventurous, and full of energy. For many of my students, athletics is a positive outlet that promotes healthy relationships with their peers and helps keep them focused on academics and in school. Through athletics students develop a variety of life skills including teamwork, cooperation, leadership, dedication, commitment, perseverance, and work ethic.
We thank you for investing in their future and education.
My Project
I am asking for a variety of foods that we can send home with some of our needy families during this time in which they are out of school for a minimum of six weeks. The foods I have asked for can be prepared by our kids if their parents need to work. I have tried to pick foods that would be filling and hopefully sustain them to their next meal, which is likely the free breakfast and lunch that we are passing out at school.
We are worried about all of our students right now, especially those coming from low income homes.
This food will ease our worries in knowing they at least have some food in the home. Thank you.
