This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I am a first year teacher at a priority school in SW DC. Our school has been labeled as a "40-40" school, meaning that we are among the lowest performing schools in our district. One hundred percent of our kiddos receive free or reduced-price lunch. Our school population also has a high number of special education students. In my room, I have a variety of learners, including students with ADHD, speech impediments, learning disorders and emotional disturbance.
We don't receive supplies from parents or the school, so we are trying to fill the gap with help from donors!
With your help, we can create a loving, warm learning environment for my first graders where they have access to all the materials they need to learn!
My Project
Our school is a Title One school with 100% of students receiving free breakfast and lunch every day. We can't learn if we are focused on our hunger! These snacks will ensure that every child in our class is full and ready to focus all of their attention on learning. Please help keep our bellies full!
Many of our kiddos can't rely on getting food before school or after school so we want to make sure to have snacks to give to kids who come to school late and miss breakfast and snacks for all kids before they go home.
