Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I am a music/art teacher and I love my shining stars! Our students are low socio-economically disadvantaged.
Hurricane Harvey displaced a vast majority of our students last Fall.
Some are still displaced and homeless, and some live in crowded rooms. Our school is a refuge to a lot of students, the only place that they are guaranteed two meals a day. We have a wonderful staff who provides above and beyond for our students. We have our local Food Bank, and other local Services donate to our campus and what a blessing it is.
My students are rarely exposed to the fine arts outside of school and I love to give them all the experiences I can. My students thirst for knowledge and giving them new opportunities is a blessing.
My students are on a bilingual, low income campus. Academic education as well as Fine Arts is very important to them and their families. Having art supplies a little out of the norm and being able to create with them will enhance our new art program and enhance my students' lives and mine.
My Project
If this project is fully funded, so many lives will not only be enhance, but truly blessed. I have chosen a few different art projects that my students would never have the opportunity to do, if not for your generosity. One of the art projects is designing with wire using galvanized wire. I also have requested resources so my students have the opportunity to paint and to be able to blend colors with blending solution while painting on canvas.
I know my students will love using the mosaic tiles I have requested to form initials or pictures, My favorite resource is using acrylic paint pens to paint on ceramic tile.
These art projects will be new opportunities that will impact and undoubtedly touch my students' lives.
