Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My kindergarten students attend a Title I elementary school in North Carolina. Most of them are bilingual, speaking English only at school. For many of them, their time in Kindergarten is their first time in an educational environment. Many parents/families work 2 or 3 jobs to provide the basic necessities at home. They want the best education for their children and help them as much as they can.
My students are hard-working, curious kids.
They enjoy all hands-on activities and have a variety of interests. Our class works well together and enjoys helping each other learn.
My Project
I am requesting an assortment of individual snacks including Goldfish, Cheez-Its, Rice Krispie Treats, peanuts, graham crackers, cookies, and peanut butter crackers. Many of my students receive free breakfast and lunch due to their economic status. If they don't bring in a snack, it's because they don't have food at home.
With these snacks, I can make sure all of my students are focused on learning and not focused on their growling stomach.
I will provide a snack to all students who don't have one each day. It will give them energy and help them focus on their academic success! I will also be able to send a snack or two home with them over the weekend to make sure they have something to eat when they are not in school.
