Students at my school are beyond brilliant and come from many diverse cultures. Every single student has a passion for learning, which is displayed through many varying learning styles. While many of my students do well with basic instruction, I see my students THRIVE when they have the opportunities to work alongside each other in small groups! Their wacky characteristics and fun attitudes not only provide a light-hearted mood in the classroom but also provide an exciting atmosphere of learning and cooperation that all diverse cultures benefit from!
My Project
In today’s classroom, learning is no longer limited to whole group instruction. My students are constantly learning through group work, utilizing technology such as chrome books, and working with individual whiteboards for fluency practice. However, one thing that has been a setback in my classroom is the lack of a small group table where students can receive teacher intervention. As of right now, I am having to borrow a round table from a teacher friend, which can only sit 3 students maximum. This horseshoe table will allow me to provide mathematics intervention as well as pull small groups for student understanding in major power standards, such as practice with fraction operations, decimal operations, and volume of prisms. The layout of a horseshoe table is PERFECT for being able to provide interventions to a group of students but also provides the opportunity of being directly across from each student at the table to provide that 1 on 1 instruction for struggling students. By donating to my project, you will be providing a home for intervention in my classroom so that all students will feel comfortable and confident when working with me in a small group, which will ultimately boost their confidence and academic success!
