Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
In my class students walk in the classroom learning in different ways, for example, watching books, listening to readings, asking questions, and projects based learning based on their needs.
My students come from different social backgrounds, such as single mothers, single parents, surrogate parents, and families with limited economic resources.
In my school we teach two languages, English and Spanish. Students will learn to speak and write in both languages. I wish to provide them with resources that will allow them to become bi-literate, despite their home situation.
My Project
Our students come from low-income families and for this reason they do not have enough money to cover the cost of providing snacks for our 48 students.
Food is of great importance and as their teacher, I am concerned that my students will be focused on hunger pains rather than their learning.
I am asking for healthy, nutritious and peanut-free snacks for my classroom; In the afternoon they will be given these healthy snacks and will feel energized. They will also be more willing to perform activities and focus on learning in the afternoon because they are not hungry.
Please help me in supporting my students so that they can focus in my classroom and so they are no longer going home hungry.
