Humphrey Gets a Home in Hawthorne!

Help me give my students several Humphrey plush dolls to be shared among classrooms as their very own pet hamster! In addition, I'd love to give them craft sticks, straws and recyclable materials to make Humphrey a home!

My Students

My students are all of the children in Kindergarten through Second Grade at our school. As a permanent building substitute, I have the wonderful opportunity to meet and work with the majority of students. They are all engaging, eager young people who enjoy hands-on learning.

Our whole school school, together with the students' families, will be reading one book, Friendship According to Humphrey!

The One School One Book program is designed to get the entire school community involved in the joy of reading aloud.

My Project

Every family at our school will be receiving the book, Friendship According to Humphrey. They will be getting the book and a reading calendar. Families will be reading a chapter per evening with the classroom teacher rereading the chapter aloud on the following day. Teachers have many fun and educational activities planned.

Humphrey will get a new home!

Every classroom in the school will share the several plush hamsters that I have requested. Each room will get an equal amount of craft materials (sticks, straws, connectors) so that groups of students can construct a portion of a house and play yard for their pet.
