This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
These hard-working students attend a Title I city school and are 97% African American learners with a sustainable special education population. The majority of the students are functioning slightly below reading comprehension levels according to district's projections. These students are low performing in the area of math. They are a fun-loving, creative group who are "owning" their learning as best they can. This community of learners are prepared to work to succeed; they understand their roles and responsibilities as it relates to their education.
My Project
This ETA Daily Math Kit will help my students to transform into Human Calculators. At this stage in second grade, they struggle with maintaining the speed and accuracy needed to solve number sentences mentally. They become frustrated and unmotivated, having to depend on paper and pencil or finger strategies to solve math problems. They need your help with additional opportunities to build their fact fluency.
The ETA Daily Math kit can increase their processing time and build their numeracy mastery levels in a fun and engaging way!
Students will have a multi-sensory tool that supports and reinforces their transforming skills and abilities.
Please help my students identify their individualized abilities to transform into human calculators whenever they need to!
