Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
As a Physical Education teacher in a low income/high poverty urban city, my students are faced with several challenges both in and out of the classroom. Despite the many challenges, I am trying to provide my students with new and creative learning experiences. Many students are bilingual, some speaking only Spanish but learning English.
Students come into school excited to learn and explore.
The students look forward to what new games and activities will be presented to them during Physical Education. They are motivated to move with music, and visuals, and having fun in PE!
My Project
Hula hoops can be used for many activities in the gym, not just hula hooping! We currently need more hoops so we can try out some new games that require many hoops.
New hula hoops will also replace our current hoops which are bent and odd shaped.
This project also contains cones and cards to be able to mark the cones. This will help in station activities, and come in handy for field day. Cones separate the gym space, and mark areas of play. They play an important role in the gym to help the kids stay on track with visuals on the cones.
