My Soccer team is made up of amazing individuals who have a passion for the sport. We compete with local schools who have resources we don't as a school system. We lack the parental involvement, booster club and involved alumni that would help us grow.
Many of my players struggle academically and need an extra incentive to attend school.
Maintaining student engagement is an ongoing responsibility of mine after the season is over. Many of my players lose focus once the season is over, thankfully I am in the building and work with support services within the school to make sure they all walk across the stage in June.
Our soccer players are from around the world; Jamaica, Thailand, Peru, Brazil, Columbia, Guyana, Mexico, Ecuador, The Dominican Republic to name a few countries. They love soccer but require extra time together as a team to learn how to play and win together. Players are in need of experiences that foster personal growth and strengthen the team as a whole. My international squad needs inspiration to stand out and craves as much support as possible.
My Project
Teams now are using this drone technology to go up and film training sessions so you then can literally say to people you’re in this position, you should be covering,”
For decades, teams have been filming their practices to show players what they were actually doing, and how they can improve.
In rugby—unlike many other team sports—the managers tend to sit in the stands, high above the field, to get a more holistic overview of how their team is performing. In soccer, these views have generally only been found in video games. Aerial footage from drones can bring that same overview, and myriad new viewing angles, to real-life soccer, while allowing coaches to remain pitchside to coach their teams.
A drone’s ability to capture action in matches and training sessions from all angles makes it a potentially indispensable tool. As coaches, we all aspire to gain those small margins that increase player performance as well as team performance. By using a drone to capture aerial images, we exponentially increase our ability to review and analyze performances as we look to enhance our players’ abilities and game intelligence.
