HP Steams for All!

My students need HP Streams to use for various tasks in class. I believe that students need to interact and use technology daily to help prepare them for the future.

Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

I teach ELA to a diverse group of students at my arts-infused school. At my school, students have many opportunities to express themselves and learn through instrumental music, drama, dance, vocal music, art, and so much more. It is my goal to motivate my students and make learning exciting for every child.

My students are creative, passionate, and hardworking, but have unique and individual needs.

Over 90% of students at my school come from low-income households, and the entire school qualifies for free breakfast and lunch. There is also a large population of English Language Learners at my school. The students in my class have a wide range of abilities and it is my job to meet the varied needs. I develop art-infused, technology-integrated, and action-based lessons to help create engaging lessons for my students.

My Project

Technology is the way of the future, and I want every student in my class to have the opportunity to interact with this important tool. HP Streams are a great resource because they are notebook laptops with a full keyboard, which students can use for a variety of daily activities and lessons. If my project is funded, I will use these computers to increase student engagement and appeal to every student’s individual needs and personal learning level.

When my students have the opportunity to use technology, they are more engaged in their work, and are excited about what they are learning.

Many beneficial websites can be used to supplement what we are learning and discussing in class. When children love what they are learning they tend to retain more information, and enjoy the process.

The HP Streams would also serve as a great tool for helping to reduce the use of physical copies and texts. I would use the computers to allow a small group of students the opportunity to read and respond to passages electronically. By using websites with various leveled texts, students would be able to select a version of text that matches their specific reading needs. Since all students have different reading abilities, this would challenge each student appropriately.

I would love to allow the students in my class to use technology as frequently as possible. I believe that the more opportunities they have to work with technology, the more prepared they will be for the future. By utilizing the HP Streams, I would be able to tailor lessons to meet each student’s individual needs. This will result in providing students with a more productive learning environment.
