My students need the materials for an escape room to replace the traditional multiple choice chemistry final, which includes various locks, black light and pen, and boxes with a key to open.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are bold and excited to be in my class. The culture among students and staff as well at our school is inspiring, students willingly engage with one another and are particularly accepting of the special education community on campus.
This year, former students decided to decorate the whole science departments’ stools with our last names, which will be used to greet our students outside every day.
That alone shows the rich academic and social culture among the Wolfpack. It was a nice gesture and now we all have a piece of student work in our classroom.
My Project
I really enjoy the idea of an escape room to enhance student engagement, team work, and critical thinking. The various locks, lock boxes, and black light and pen will help me design an interactive final, where students must solve chemistry problems and riddles to "escape" the classroom and leave for the summer.
Students will be asked to solve problems which aid them in opening locks, deciphering codes, opening hidden boxes, and more; student engagement and curiosity will be at its peak.
Students who are engaged in the activity and feel immediate reward for their learning will be more encouraged to participate and contribute to the class. This activity will contribute to a better classroom culture and a memorable experience for the students.
