I am the fortunate teacher of fourteen inquisitive fourth graders. Our school is a Title I school with a poverty level of ninety-three percent. My students and I work diligently to make our world a better place. I know if given a chance my students can surpass the goals they have set for themselves. My students have a major obstacle standing in their way though. Due to tough economic times our district is no longer able to supply our class with new math materials. In our class we do a lot of small-group math instruction. Students participate in different centers focused on various math concepts. Not only do my students thoroughly enjoy doing this I am able to really focus on their strengths and weaknesses. One of our centers is seriously lacking though, the measurement center. With the Hands-On Measurement Center my students would have a renewed enthusiasm for measurement. This awesome kit comes jam-packed with measurement tools and materials. For capacity there are a myriad of different containers for students to fill. Using these would help my class make genuine connections between math concepts and real world skills. The kit also comes with activity cards. These would be great for the students to work on while I am teaching another small group. Thank you for taking the time to read our request.
