Help me give my students art supplies like acrylic paint to paint pictures of their personal quiet place as part of our "How We Express Ourselves" Unit of study.
I serve a diverse student population, mainly from Russian and Fijian descents. My students learn international mindedness through a global perspective. As a teacher at a Title I school, my students are faced with several challenges both in and out of the classroom. Regardless of their lives at home and language challenges, I want to aid in developing reflective, rigorous, globally-minded, self-sufficient learners.
My students are risk-takers, thinkers, reflective and inquirers.
The students are eager to learn new things and continually develop their young minds. My students are our future, they mean the world to me and I want to inspire them to be lifelong learners.
My Project
This project is a response to Douglas Wood's "A Quiet Place", where they discover their own quiet place through reading, writing and painting. These art materials will make it possible for our students to develop and have a sense of awareness of themselves and their surrounding environment.
The students, after completing a 6 week unit of study, will have the opportunity when provided with these art supplies, to create their own visual masterpiece of their quiet place.
This self awareness and use of expression will benefit them in all focuses of their educational journey. This project is both a written and visual expression of their understanding of what a where their quiet place is.
