My Students

Many of my students come from financially disadvantaged homes and cannot afford the necessary technology to help them learn in a socially distant classroom while wearing a mask. Our students engage in hands-on projects and engage in student-led discussion on a daily basis. Giving students the opportunity to explore math concepts with manipulatives will significantly enhance learning in the classroom.

My Project

Help give my students math manipulatives to help them learn in a socially distant learning environment. The pandemic has dramatically affected my students and how they know. This school year, students will return to in-person learning but will still need to follow Covid 19 guidelines of mask-wearing and socially distancing themselves from each other within the classroom. They are not able to share manipulatives as they have in previous years. Having math manipulatives for each student, which includes fraction bars, place value unit cubes, and 1" unit cubes, for students to engage in the conceptual understanding of the lessons and engage in discussions in both small and large groups will enhance their learning experiences in my classroom. By using the maniuplatives, students will be able to actively engage in learning with each other yet still follow the recommended Covid 19 guidelines within the classroom.
