Help me give my students practice speaking their truth by producing and filming a Ted Talk about what motivates them to accept failure and learn from it. The microphones, lighting, and phone accessories are needed to film.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Liberty High School students reflect the economic, social, and cultural diversity that you want to see in traditional public school systems. Students and highly trained teachers engage in contemporary learning styles that enrich learning experiences for all. Special needs children are celebrated and respected by our entire community with teachers and general education students advocating for their success in both inclusion and advanced placement courses. The emotional wellness of our students continues to stand at the forefront of my priorities. Creating an environment that tackles everyday issues in creative ways, generates meaningful discussion and creative writing ideas to stimulate innovation and experimentation, while keeping a love of literature alive.
My Project
My students learn best when they have hands-on experience so, their ability to produce, film, and edit news articles, blogs, podcasts, and news segments provides projects that motivate them to persevere through planning, writing, and editing. Students are able to apply textbook terminology and practices in varied ways that are designed to inspire them to be the professionals in the room.
The final culminating activity is a Ted Talk, short film, or non-fiction essay about how they remain motivated, even in the face of hardship or setbacks.
Turning the interview on themselves began with completing interpersonal surveys to get them to reflect on their year and a blog that could be about their plan of action for the next six months; a reflection about the way they have changed since September or a set-back that is challenging their motivation.
