I am a preschool teacher with a classroom with all 4 and 5 year old students. These students come from low income homes and they have to face many challenges every day. Our program is looking to provide a variety of materials that will give them quality learning experiences that will help to prepare them for kindergarten.
My students have a desire to learn, are imaginative, playful, and creative.
My students learn best through positive attention and hands-on learning. Many materials are not available at home, so I do my best to provide what I can while they are at school. I want to make learning fun and hands-on.
My Project
Many of my students do not have the opportunity to have books read to them at home. Each day, we read 2-3 books to help teach them about different things in the world.
I am requesting books about community helpers to help teach my students about people in their community.
The books will introduce them to different roles that people have in the community. The students will listen to the book being read to them and even try to read it themselves. These books will help to promote literacy and even help a student decide a career path for the future. By providing the books to our students, it will help to educate them on their community.
