This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

My students are mostly from low-income families that live in a gang-infested, poverty-stricken environment. They face many challenges on a daily basis. My students struggle with feeling safe, whether they are sitting on the front porch or walking to school.

My job is to make them feel safe at school as well as to give them hope that they can overcome any situation.

Every day I encourage my students to be a catalyst for change in their school, home, and their environment. My students know that they can overcome anything if they try.

My Project

Technology is everywhere around us even in places that our parents could never imagine. It's amazing that our children are able to learn something that brings them so much joy. The Kindle Fire will open an entirely new world of books for my students to read and have a great discussion about.

The Kindle Fire allows students to read a variety of books for pleasure and the iPad allows them to complete a wide range of research on a variety of topics.

Having the Kindle Fire and an iPad would give my students the opportunity to read a book and complete research using technology.
