This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
We are a school library in a school of about 400 students (K-5) in a low income area in South Carolina.
Our current almanacs are quite old and the funding source we wanted to use to replace them was suddenly cut! We'd like to have almanacs that weren't printed when the kids using them were babies.
Kids love to look things up and find out how many, what happened, how big, who was first and so forth. Almanacs let them do that--and Children's Almanacs are full of pictures and fun facts to keep their attention. Additionally, since we are supposed to teach them how to use almanacs, it's nice to be able to use kid-friendly ones.
Your donation will nurture kids natural curiosity and keep them asking and answering questions about the world around them.
