My Students

My fifth grade students are so passionate about their learning. They come to school daily, ready to learn. They absorb every bit of information and are ready for the next new thing to be presented. My students deserve every possible opportunity to learn, and in a variety of ways to meet the needs of all my learners in my classroom.

My students come from high poverty and low income homes.

Almost 70% of students qualify for free and reduced-price lunch and almost 30% of students are English Language Learners. Most of my students have a lack of resources or access to computers, tablets or internet at home because of the expense they bring for families. When most of my students walk through the door, they are often worried about not having enough or the right supplies they need to support their daily learning.

My Project

My students need to learn about the use of a map as well as to explore our world. These requested Map Skills for Today workbooks will do just that. This engaging workbook will provide engaging instruction while learning about maps and how to use one.

Learning about maps, how to use one, and knowing where things are located is an extremely important skill to have in life.

I want to make sure that my students are ready for these real life experiences that come up in our everyday lives.

My students often don't get new workbooks, textbooks, or supplies and these workbooks will a real treat. They will feel extremely grateful and supported with these new materials. To know they were thought of is a great feeling for them.
