My Students

My students all come from diverse and socioeconomic backgrounds. Students have the opportunity to take foreign languages like Spanish, Mandarin, French, and Arabic at our school. Our school is a pre-k to 8th-grade elementary school. Students all have one thing in common: curiosity! Curiosity sparks the imagination! My students are curious and creative. Not only are they curious, but they are voracious readers!

As a librarian, I show students the many different worlds they can travel to when they enter the school library doors.

Students enter Hogwarts, Narnia, Chocolate Factory, Giant Peach and let their imaginations soar. The library also helps encourage critical thinking skills especially coding applications. The library encourages students to research and work together to solve problems.

My Project

Students learn best using hands-on applications. Students learn when they are able to see how things work. Once they see how things work, they are able to explain the concepts of coding better. My students loved reading books 1 and 2 in the Secret Coders series. The books helped them understand what coding is. However, making a center in the library using Osmo with its coding application will help students understand coding more by utilizing Osmo. Coding involves problem-solving and Osmo helps students use coding skills to solve problems! Students apply coding commands in Osmo to move in the Osmo adventure!
