Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My little second graders are so eager to learn. I want to provide my students with access to more technology, to explore the Internet, learn to use the keyboard, and become familiar with basic computer skills.
My school is in a high-poverty, low-income neighborhood.
Many of our children receive free or reduced breakfasts and lunches and many families struggle to meet day to day needs. Despite the challenges they face at home, my students come to school everyday eager to learn. They are a great group of vibrant, enthusiastic and energetic second graders.
My Project
Our class is working on a research project and the students need access to the Internet to gather information. However, with only 1 working computer in the classroom, it makes it very difficult for the students to share and get enough time to retrieve the information they need. Our computer is very old and outdated and once it breaks, it will not be replaced. I would love to build a small computer area for the students starting with this Chromebook, headphones, and mouse. Due to its portability, students will be able to take it to their desk and easily share it with their collaborative groups. It will be a very useful tool for their research projects.
Your donation to this project will provide the students with an exciting learning tool that will keep them motivated, focused, and engaged.
In addition to learning a variety of computer skills, they will also learn how to share with one another and be responsible students.
