Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Many of us know what it is like to have a book to read and lose ourselves in. However there are many more of us who do not have the privilege of reading a good book and getting lost in it. I work with students like these everyday.
I teach third grade and my students are primarily from a low income background.
Most of the experiences that they have are the ones that I create for them in and out of the classroom. Most of the time the only books they have access to are in the classroom. The kids at my school and in my classroom are wonderful students. They have such an eagerness to learn and explore. They love to participate in hands-on activities and interactive learning. The dots comprehension kit will allow my students to have an interactive learning experience. They will be able to enhance their reading comprehension skills in a fun interactive way.
My Project
The books are for our classroom library. I have never had a huge library to begin with, and over the years my students have taken books so my library has slowly dwindled. I need to build it up so that future students can enjoy having books to read and get lost in. The books are educational and it will help students to be better readers. My students not having their own books or even easy access to books, makes reading difficult for them. Having a nice classroom library will allow these students to have access to books everyday of the school year.
The Hot Dots Comprehension Kit is a great tool for me to use in the classroom with the students. This is a fun and interactive way for students to learn. While using the Hot Dots, students will be learning numerous reading comprehension skills that will not only help them become better readers, but allow them to be successful on the state mandated test they have to take at the end of the school year.
The donations that would be provided for this project are so important.
I can't financially afford to provide these things by myself. I need help from others, and being that I am in a low income school getting donations and help from parents is very difficult. So by creating this project and having donations made to it, you and I are helping children get a better education and children are able to have access to materials they normally wouldn't have access too.
