My Students

What a great job I have teaching science! As a sixth-grade science teacher, I am in the educational sweet spot. I have students who genuinely want to learning about the physical science that is all around them. I love seeing their eyes light up when they learn something in class that makes the physical world make sense.

Our students desire for learning about science exceeds any subject in our school (In my opinion:).

Students in our school live in a low socioeconomic part of Nampa. Our school is a Title I school in which all students qualify for free breakfast and lunch. There are many needs at our school for resources of food, clothing, shelter, and positive relationships.

My Project

Currently, my middle school of 562 students has 3 hot plates that were bought 20 years ago and only 2 of them work properly. I teach 6th grade physical science. The units I teach include thermal energy and phase change. I would love to be able to give students safe, hands-on, small group size learning opportunities with these hot plates. I will make these hot plates be available to the entire school for the needs of my colleagues' lessons. Thank you for considering donating to my project. The kids will love it!
