Help me give my students an additional resource that will allow them to explore using math in a different way. These magazines offer students the chance to see math used in the real world around them.

Teaching Math in a 6th grade classroom is a dream come true for me! My students are active learners who want to move around the classroom and work in different spaces. They are full of smiles, laughs, and have bright personalities. Each class consists of 28-32 students and they are always on the move.
I teach at a Title I school in North Carolina where 100 percent of our students receive free breakfast and lunch.
My students come from all types of different families. Our school is made up of students who have parents serving on active duty in the military, parents working multiple jobs, or struggling to work and facing hardships. Despite these various backgrounds, my students come into the classroom each day with a positive attitude and they are always ready to do their best work. Believing they can learn and be great mathematicians builds the confidence in themselves that will carry them through their entire academic career.
These magazines will allow me to incorporate a different activity into our daily math centers. The magazines feature math in engaging and relevant articles written to entertain the students and encourage their interest in learning and practicing math skills. The subscriptions will allow us to use the magazines throughout the year. Students will be able to use the articles to independently practice their math skills, along with their reading skills, as they learn.
One of our county's main focus points for Math is to incorporate independent small group activities into daily classroom instruction.
Giving students a current magazine will enable them to be reading and learning all while working on their math in a different, fun, and independent way.
With your help we will receive enough copies for a class set of each magazine bi-weekly. Your support of this project will consistently provide my students with engaging and timely math and reading materials for the entire school year.
