Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My ELL students are motivated and enthusiastic learners. Our school is a Title I school with very high poverty. Our entire school receives free breakfast and lunch. Although they are surrounded by poverty, they eagerly come to school and work very hard. They know that through education they will be able to better their lives.
My students are great kids who come to school ready to work hard and enjoy learning.
They want to succeed and better themselves.
Playing and learning basketball will sharpen their skills on the court, keep them healthy, and teach them about sportsmanship.
My Project
The requested basketballs will help my students learn how to shoot, pass, dribble, and handle a basketball. They will be placed in groups and each group will learn basketball fundamentals and become successful with the game. Using these balls will allow my kids to see how fun basketball is, how basketball will keep them moving and healthy, and how important it is to be part of a team.
Basketball is a team sport.
There is nothing more satisfying to a child than learning a new sport and being part of a team where everyone contributes and achieves success because of each member. Basketball will bring the students together and will help them stay healthy.
