This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I'd like to tell you a bit about my students. This is my first year teaching, and they have been an amazing class to begin work with. My students show drive and willingness to persevere through challenges. Desperate to define the odds, they give us their all every day. My students face poverty and some even face homelessness and hunger daily. My co-teacher and I have had to do a lot of adjusting, because it is the first year teaching for both of us. We have also had to move classes already due to our school going through a big renovation. In this time, my students have been resilient and adaptive.
We’re gearing up for Milestones!
My Project
It’s May! For me, that means I’m thinking about the new school year. As I’ve been planning my Math Center I’ve been thinking about Independent work. That’s when I stumbled across Hot Dots’. This is an interactive technology where students are presented with a question and answer choices. Students use the interactive pen to choose their answer. The pen-like magic gives them automatic praise or redirection. I will use this as a self-check tool. I can already see how useful this will be in my classroom and I can’t wait to add to the collection. Hot Dots for everyone!
