My students need Educational Insights Hot Dots activities and pens to strengthen their individual reading skills, increase literacy, and practice mathematical concepts.
My students are from a small, neighborhood school at the base of the beautiful Boise foothills. My school has a very supportive community which helps to contribute to student achievement. My fourth graders are eager learners and they are excited to start a new year! As I look over the curriculum and the year ahead, I've set several goals for the class. One goal, in particular, is to be very mindful of my planning and instruction while integrating creative learning and the use of hands-on tools. Students need to be challenged and involved in a variety of ways, as books aren't the only resource for learning.
My role in the classroom has shifted over the years and has led me to think more and more outside the box.
The future has opened up with the continued advancement in technology and the integration of science, engineering, and mathematics and I need to prepare my students accordingly. I like to bring several types of engaging activities into the classroom to give my students ample opportunities to explore problem-solving and critical thinking.
My Project
Working with fourth graders, I have the opportunity to set up independent learning centers. Centers allow me the freedom to work with small groups, as well as offering a variety of work stations for students to learn and interact with educational materials. According to the Educational Insights blog, "Each Hot Dots set features teacher-developed activities designed to help kids master critical, age-appropriate, academic skills, instill academic confidence, and encourage a life-long love of learning. With cool, interactive pens, colorful content, and immediate feedback, kids of all ages love learning with Hot Dots."
I'm not a teacher who instructs from behind a computer and I'm always looking into innovative ways to bring learning alive and introduce students to new and exciting content that helps to energize the standards and curriculum.
Hot Dots kits put learning in the students' hands. The kits can provide endless activities that challenge students and get them involved in the learning process.
