Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
As a teacher in a low-income/high poverty Title I school, my class supplies are often limited. If I want specific items, I often purchase them myself such as extra pencils, markers, crayons, tablets, special craft projects and basic everyday supplies. Despite these challenges, I provide my students an engaging environment where they thrive and learn.
My kindergarten students are diverse learners.
Some of my students have individual education plans, some are English-only speakers, and others are English language learners. Since my students are so diverse, I teach both in whole group and in centers throughout the day to provide each group of students the instruction they require.
My Project
My students work in centers for throughout the day for just about every subject from reading to math to science. Using Hot Dots is one way to creatively review content in a fun and hands-on way. After completing a small group lesson, early finishers have the opportunity to use Hot Dots to extend their learning.
These Hot Dot pens and activities would allow more of my students to use this fun and educational learning tool.
I currently have four pens that students share. Though my students are really great about sharing the pens, I do have a need for a few more. The science Hot Dot kit would also be great for my students that are interested in science.
