Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students come from very low-income homes. Most of them have single parents or parents who need extra assistance. The kids we have are just trying to stay out of jail like their family members. With the help of athletics and extracurricular events, we strive to keep them and teach them all the meaning of a team/family. We strive to teach them every day goals and to show that we care for each and every student.
We want to change the community, and with athletics, it gives everyone an opportunity to grow and excel in the future.
We teach not only fundamentals but everyday life skills. In athletics, we do not have a lot of funding since most of our kids do not even own the proper shoes, let alone matching uniforms. I have always been an advocate to look good, play well.
My Project
Student incentives are what we value at my elementary school. We try our best to reward our students with appropriate rewards. This project would be used as incentive parties for our student athletes. We currently give out water or Gatorade- but in the cold weather our student athletes always ask for something warm and yummy. I know that they would love this.
We do not have the funds to purchase this Keurig maker and pods, but we sure could use them.
We want them to be able to give our students something they want but unfortunately we do not have the funds for them right now.
