Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach at a small high school composed of two small towns and a bit of Fort Worth, TX. The small-town vibe is what makes our school so special. A sense of community and pride is instilled in students, as they come from 3 elementary schools that feed into our middle school, which feeds into our high school. Most of my students have known each other since at least 6th grade, which is quite helpful in regards to building relationships. They are like family to one another, and have each other’s backs, no matter what. What I love most about my students is that they care so much about each other and the people that support them.

My Project

As the cold weather season continues, my students tend to come in cold and sleepy. I had leftover hot chocolate from a previous DonorsChoose.org project and my students have enjoyed getting to make a hot beverage to warm up.

Please help me give my students more hot chocolate for these cold, winter days and snacks to keep them fed and focused.

I have also included light roast coffee and tea per request of my students. Thanks to donors like you, I have created a drink/ snack station in my classroom, which students have greatly enjoyed. Students know where they can get snacks from when needed, which has helped them focus on their learning instead of their hunger. I included healthy morning and afternoon snacks like granola bars, crackers, pretzels, and popcorn.
