My Students

Our music students are some of the best and brightest on our campus! Our music students are dedicated to their craft and work hard to master their instruments. They are committed to stellar attendance, work ethic, and participation in class.

My Project

Music makes a difference in the lives of so many students, especially over the past year as schools have been closed due to the pandemic and we have been learning virtually. Music educators have a unique opportunity to celebrate diversity in their classrooms through a curriculum that is inclusive of a variety of music-making traditions.

Music keeps our diverse community of students connected and gives them an outlet to express themselves and see themselves represented in the songs they play.

Our band music includes by a diverse variety of composers, and we study spiritual songs, folk songs, as well as world music. This helps us to see ourselves reflected in the composers and musicians whose music we learn to play. These musical instruments make playing in the middle school band and orchestra possible!

Our students utilize school-provided instruments and equipment every year. We have an exemplary music program due, in large part, to the generosity of our community. This year we had at least 65 students borrow school-owned instruments, and we needed to provide a new Baritone horn to provide the musical experience for all to be seen, heard, and included!
