This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My classroom is a place where students learn to love learning!

Interactive, hands-on, sensory-based activities lead the way on a daily basis when it comes to grabbing the attention of my 18 kindergartners!

Our kiddos come from a low-income background and this is often the first time many students are exposed to anything education-related. They learn that mistakes are okay and the meaning of perseverance. They learn how to be friends with people who are different than them and how to spread kindness. The growth the students make in every area of life throughout the year is simply amazing!

My Project

Picture this: pairs of excited kiddos using their bodies and minds at the same time. They are using the hopscotch boards to count to ten, count by tens to one-hundred, they are practicing simple addition and subtraction, and concepts such as greater than and equal to, and they are also working on gross motor coordination as they hop from number to number. Students can work solo, in pairs, or in triads.

As the students hop from number to number, they will be engaging in age appropriate learning and having fun while doing it!

Activities that involve both the mind and the body are proven to be more successful when it comes to retention of the material and it also teaches our little learners that math is fun...and that is an awesome thing!
