This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Project
My students are a diverse group of kids from Detroit, Michigan, 90% of my students are from low-income households. It's heartbreaking to hear many of my students come in sharing their lack of resources that would normally comfort the heart of a child.
What I love most is that my students have created a safe haven from what they left behind at home.
My scholars are resilient and will always be my "WHY!!" In return, I hope I too become their "WHY" one day.
My first graders are amazing. I would love to shower them with gifts to my appreciation of their dedication to learning. They are an inquisitive and one enthusiastic group of learners. Each day when they enter my classroom, they are ready to grow and learn. They work so hard, even on their not-so-great days.... they still show up ready to face whatever challenges they may face during the day.
My scholars would use these resources during recess to engage in social activities. The concepts of games and toys have a very important role in children's lives. It contributes to the development of cognitive, motor, psychosocial, emotional, and linguistic skills. It also plays a key role in raising self-confident, creative, and happy children. Creative drawing uses fine motor skills, hand-eye coordination, problem-solving skills, lateral thinking, complex analysis, and critical thinking skills. Students would use the Spelling sight word games to practice their phonological awareness skills. The balancing bean game will be used as a resource to enhance number recognition through partner activities. Students can use the art set to enhance fine motor skills, hand-eye coordination, problem-solving skills, lateral thinking, complex analysis, and critical thinking skills. All resources would be beneficial to their growth and development.
