Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My classroom has 25 Kindergarteners who are eager to learn. Providing them with a fun way to learn fundamental skills will assist them to be successful emergent readers.
Our school has a population of 82% English Language Learners.
They come from a low socioeconomic background. My classroom in particular has 25 wonderful and fun Kindergarten students, 19 of them are English Language Learners at a beginning level.
Our school is a family oriented school and we try our best to involve the community. We make sure that we have a safe educational environment where students feel welcome.
My students are very eager to learn and are excited to come to school. They love technology and educational games but many of them do not have the opportunity to use technology at home.
My Project
By having four LeapFrog LeapPads with a variety of games and stories, students will have the opportunity to practice Common Core Fundamental skills like letter and sound recognition and high frequency words. Students will also be able to hear stories which will enhance comprehension and vocabulary. They will be engaged and in charge of their learning when using the LeapPads.
Some of the activities that students will be doing are reading, spelling, phonics, letter recognition,letter writing math and science. They will also start becoming independent learners through the use of technology.
The LeapPads will also assist with language acquisition for the English Learners.
The main goal of my project is to provide a fun, interactive and engaging way of learning.
The LeapPad is a great tool that incorporates different strategies that will allow students to strengthen their comprehension and scaffold them into becoming emergent readers all while introducing them into using technology for their learning.
